MVA Office Locations

The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) handles licensing, titling, registration, and other driving-related matters. The agency has office locations throughout The Old Line State to handle various types of transactions and procedures.

The MVA also authorizes tag and title service agents to complete tasks involving titles, driving records, registrations, and driver's licenses. Check with each office to see which services it provides.

Vehicle Emissions Inspection

Those needing to have a vehicle emission inspection completed may do so at one of the inspection sites spread throughout Maryland.

Traffic tickets are cleared through district courts.

Appointments

Driving Tests

To make an appointment for your Maryland driving test, call (888) 212-4709, any day at any time. Those calling from outside the state should dial (410) 762-5082 instead.

You may also make an appointment for a CDL driving test, but only certain MVA offices offer these tests. Call the MVA customer service hotline at (800) 950-1682 for more information.

Also, if you need to obtain or renew a hazmat endorsement, call (800) 638-8347 to schedule an appointment.

Driver's License with Foreign Documents

If you want to obtain a Maryland driver's license by showing your out-of-state license with foreign-issued documents, call (800) 950-1682. The appointments will be held at one of the ten regional MVA offices. Out-of-country applicants attempting to obtain a learner's permit, driver's license, or state identification card using foreign-issued documents for proof of identification must also follow the same procedure.

Inspections

To have a salvage or safety inspection, contact the Maryland State Police (MSP) at (410) 768-7388. The inspection is available at most barracks. Inspections are also given by appointment only at the MSP Automotive Safety Enforcement Division, located at the MVA Glen Burnie garage.
