Losing your commercial driver license (CDL) can turn your mood rather quickly. Especially if you are a couple of thousand miles outside the state line and still have a trailer stocked with freight to deliver.

But when you spend so much time on the road it is bound to happen. Always having possessions scattered about and living out of a suitcase, even if you have a truck cab the size of a motel room, make the occurrence even more likely.

It is important that you head into a full-service MVA office as soon as you get back into the state or the moment you figure out the CDL is gone. If the CDL was stolen along with, say, your wallet, then you will {obviously) want to report the incident to the police. However, a police report is not necessary to replace the license.

But you will need to provide a few documents:

  • Acceptable identification showing your age and that you are a Maryland resident. If you are already listed in the database and the address is correct then you do not need to verify your residence.
  • Your Social Security number. This will not be printed on the license.

The duplicate CDL fee is $20.
